Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take InsurancE
To be able to devote the entirety of my time to my patients' care, I have elected not to participate in any insurance panel. However, many of my patients find that their health insurance plan covers a large portion of their appointment through their out-of-network benefit. For many insurances, I can submit a courtesy claim directly for you to your insurance company to have any out-of-network payment sent to you. To learn more about your individual insurance plan's out-of-network benefit, simply call the phone number on the back of your health insurance card and ask for your plan's "Summary of Benefits".
Do you OFFER IN PERSON AND TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENTS
Yes! I see patients at my office in Columbus Circle on Wednesdays or by Telehealth most days of the week. Telemedicine appointments are restricted to particular states. Please see the Telemedicine page for additional information.
HOW DO I prepare for my appointment
Please send any prior mental health treatment records, recent lab work or other medical information that may be relevant to your care. Be prepared to talk about significant family and medical history. It is also necessary to complete the “check-in” process once your appointment is scheduled to sign the forms and enter some important medical information on the portal using a computer with the latest chrome browser, as well as to complete the evidence-based assessment survey to help enhance your care.
What to expect with a new patient appointment
The session will last around 45 minutes and will be an opportunity for me to get an overview of what you have been experiencing and to explore potential treatment options to help you. Given this is a consultation session, meeting with me does not mean that you will become a patient of mine. While it is often the case that I am able to treat patients beyond the consultation phase, getting you to the best care to serve you is most important and sometimes that means referral out to other treatment options. For complex cases, more than one appointment may be necessary to complete the consultation.
How Often are follow-up Appointments
Each treatment plan is unique and will vary by person. For medication management, it is common for patients to schedule monthly appointments, but I meet with some patients bimonthly or quarterly. I integrate a lot of behavioral strategies into care leading patients to prefer more frequent meetings to progress their health beyond the medications.
DO YOU OFFER EARLY MORNING HOURS
Absolutely. I offer 8am appointments. Once your account is created with the practice, you will be able to view open availability on the portal to find a convenient time that works for you. If it appears that there are no available appointments online, this happens sometimes when the default date that loads has no availability. Please select the schedule to change the date or month, which should load other options.
How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment
After your initial consultation appointment is scheduled, you may conveniently log into the patient portal and select “Manage Appointment” or click on the link in your appointment confirmation email up to 26-hours in advance of your appointment to cancel your appointment. There is a charge for late cancellations as per the practice policies. Should you need to change your appointment, cancelling and then scheduling a new appointment is preferred rather than the reschedule option due to some system limitations. If it appears that there are no available appointments online, this happens sometimes when the default date that loads has no availability. Please select the schedule to change the date or month, which should load other options.
What is the best way to contact you
Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me. Please note that, while my email is HIPAA compliant and secure, transmission to and storage in your personal email service may not be. Therefore, it is best to reserve discussing confidential information at your appointment.
